Eric, who grew up in Colombia and Hong Kong, was educated in Paris. Shortly after being admitted to the Paris Bar in 1995, he returned to Hong Kong to start a law firm from scratch.
Eric is the founder of Mayer & Associés with more than 29 years of experience mainly advising European SMEs and MNEs from the retail, luxury, garment, food and beverage, real estate, construction, events, medical as well as the technology and the industrial sectors in developing their business in the Asia Pacific region.
His areas of expertise include international business law, cross-border M&A, joint ventures, restructurings, corporate and commercial law, international tax law, international arbitration, real estate law and immigration law.
He has a demonstrated history of successfully assisting clients with their business establishment and expansion in the Asia Pacific region thanks to his in-depth knowledge of the local legal environment and extensive network of contacts.
Eric has been a pioneer in forming a bridge between French and European entrepreneurs and the business community in the Asia Pacific region, and has been appointed as a Foreign Trade Advisor of France (Conseiller du Commerce Extérieur) in 2007 and as the Legal Adviser to the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong in 2010.
Eric spends some of his spare time in the restoration of built heritage in Aveyron, France, in managing charitable institutions of a public character and in helping the children and the school of a remote community in the extreme northwest of Mongolia known as Burentogtoh.
